Private Resolutions, Inc., 2023-present; Partner, Holland & Knight LLP, 2002-2023; Judge, Third District Court of Appeal, State of Florida, 1997-2002; Judge, Circuit Court of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit, State of Florida, 1992-1997; Trial Attorney, 1979-1992; Adjunct Professor, University of Miami College of Law, 1995-2015.
Former partner and leader of Holland & Knight's appellate practice group in the Miami office. Focused practice on state and federal appeals and trial support, specializing in all types of litigation. Also conducted numerous mediations, arbitrations and special magistrate assignments.

Began career as a trial lawyer and tried numerous jury and bench trials until appointment to Florida's Judiciary. Appointed by then Governor Lawton Chiles to the Circuit Court of Florida's Eleventh Judicial Circuit in Miami- Dade County. Was then elevated by Governor Chiles to Florida's Third District Court of Appeal.

In addition to judicial duties, during tenure on the bench, also served as an adjunct professor at the University of Miami's College of Law teaching litigation skills. Has also served as a faculty member for the College of Advanced Judicial Studies, and the Conferences of Circuit and County Judges, lecturing on numerous subjects.

Finally, has served as an instructor at the National College of District Attorneys in Columbia, South Carolina on the subject of appellate advocacy, and the National Institute of Trial Advocacy in Boulder, Colorado.
Has mediated over 200 cases. The bulk of these mediations were conducted in commercial cases involving breach of contract and commercial tort claims, defamation and invasion of privacy cases, real estate disputes, and disputes within the healthcare industry. Has also mediated issues related to personal injury, wrongful death, and product liability. Has mediated many cases involving multiple parties on both sides. The largest involved a class action with ten defendants. There were also many cases involving between two and five defendants.
Mediation provides a forum where the parties can avoid the uncertainties that inhere in the court system and decide their own fate, on their own terms. I serve the parties by helping them find their way to an acceptable resolution of the litigation. I begin by requesting thorough mediation summaries from both sides. Although the summaries are often enough to ensure my proper preparation, the more complex cases often require a conference with each side before the mediation session begins. How the mediation is conducted depends on the nature of the case, the parties' relationship and the approach counsel decide to take. I have had many cases that do not settle on the day of the mediation but can be resolved a few days or even weeks later.
