Attorney - Civil Litigation (Business, Employment, Civil Rights, Personal Injury)
Founding Member, Fuqua Campbell, P.A. (formerly Hope, Fuqua & Campbell, P.A.), 2005 – Present; Attorney, Hilburn Calhoon Harper Pruniski & Calhoun Ltd., 1980 – 2005.
Over 41 years of civil trial practice, specializing in civil rights, employment, and commercial litigation. Handles commercial disputes with substantial background in bankruptcy and farm commodities. Represented consumers from 1980-1990 with knowledge of consumer bankruptcies (Chapter 13 and Chapter 7). Substantial litigation experience with product liability cases, breach of contract, premises and general liability.
Mediated many personal injury cases with values ranging from small to large amounts. Mediated business disputes involving sales of business assets, contract fee disputes, and other commercial matters. Has also mediated employment actions involving discrimination and other work-place issues as well as some other kinds of contract disputes related to construction and public entity matters.

Mediated a substantial number of asbestos related cases.
Issues in personal injury disputes have primarily involved damages. Issues in business disputes have primarily involved performance based complaints and damages resulting from alleged breach. Employment cases have concerned issues dealing primarily with whether harassment or discrimination have occurred and damages, if any that would support a settlement.
The most important component of a mediated settlement is the willingness of the parties to negotiate in good faith with realistic goals and expectations in mind. As a mediator, I facilitate discussion by the parties that addresses the respective strengths and weaknesses of each side. Once the parties have fairly identified their positions, I direct the discussions toward risk assessment and the non-monetary reasons that a settlement can be advantageous.
