Mediation is a process that provides the parties an opportunity to control the outcome of their dispute. Like any process, its effectiveness is directly related to the quality of the effort put forth by all of the participants. I encourage pre-mediation conferences and commit to developing a working knowledge of the dispute before the mediation session begins. Ultimately, my goal is to establish trust from all participants; identify areas of common ground; overcome barriers to settlement; develop potential settlement scenarios; and eliminate the uncertainty of litigation by providing a resolution supported by all parties.
