Mediation experience includes matters involving employment discrimination claims and sexual harassment complaints. Experience mediating housing discrimination matters. Served as a mediator with the Office of Public Hearings for the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities. Recent mediations have included represented and unrepresented parties; private parties and governmental agencies; and low and high value disputes (with disputed amounts ranging from low five- to six-figure values).
Primary issues raised in mediated cases have included: whistleblower claims; race/color discrimination; age discrimination; gender discrimination; sexual harassment; physical and mental disability discrimination / failure to accommodate; and retaliation.
Recognizes that mediation participants are motivated to engage in the process for varied reasons and with diverse objectives. Treats all parties with respect, establishing rapport and engendering trust, candor and goal-oriented collaboration. Believes that a successful mediation requires well-informed participants, engaged in the process with an intention to negotiate in good faith, facilitated by a mediator who is prepared, understands the issues and law and is willing to spend the time and effort necessary to effectively guide parties to a resolution.
