About 25 years of experience as a trial lawyer handling complex litigation in the full range of civil cases. Was lead trial counsel in numerous high-profile cases pending in the federal and state courts of different jurisdictions. Represented large corporations, public entities, insurers, technology companies and individual plaintiffs. Extensive experience in all sorts of employment matters involving claims of discrimination, restrictive covenants, theft of trade secrets, employment contracts, wage and hour statutes and many others. Also have extensive experience in a wide variety of commercial and contract cases, UCC matters, product liability, class actions, intellectual property (especially patent and trademark), environmental, civil rights and many others.

In the nearly 20 years on the bench, handled the full range of federal matters, with a concentration on commercial cases, employment discrimination and other employment issues, product liability, intellectual property, mass torts, class actions, claims arising under federal statutes, involving civil rights, Qui Tam, Fair Debt and Credit, Securities laws, insurance coverage, and many others. Much of my time on the bench was spent mediating cases, most of which resulted in settlement. Also tried and decided cases and wrote numerous opinions.

Also been appointed a Special Master in large federal cases, including two mass tort MDL's, an intellectual property matter, and commercial matters to foster settlement, decide discovery and substantive matters and handle fee disputes.
As Magistrate District Court Judge for nearly 20 years, handled various mediations, with a concentration on commercial cases, employment discrimination and other employment issues, product liability, intellectual property, mass torts, class actions, claims arising under federal statutes, involving civil rights, Fair Debt and Credit, Securities laws, insurance coverage, and many others.

Since retiring from the bench, have handled numerous mediations.
Have mediated commercial cases, employment discrimination and other employment issues, product liability, intellectual property, mass torts, class actions, claims arising under federal statutes, involving civil rights, Qui Tam, Fair Debt and Credit, Securities laws, insurance coverage, and many others.
I am not wedded to any one style of mediation. I focus on the dispute and the motivations of the parties and then tailor my approach to resolve the dispute. I am a hands-on mediator. If appropriate, I will comment on the applicable laws and realities of the litigation. If I think it will help, I will often (but not always) make a mediator’s proposal, which often resolves the dispute and is appreciated by all parties.
